Information

Lifesessions (noun) - meetings or sittings for the purpose of capturing a physical reality which reflects the beauty, passion, and emotion of the moment in the form of a still picture.

My name is Joshua Atticks and welcome to Lifesessions Photography. In this site you will find my work as I have discovered the world behind a lens. I started this site way back in 1999 as a place to showcase my travel photos as I trekked across America and Europe. In the time since, I have learned the fine art of waiting and observing while always seeking to capture that "perfect" image. It's amazing how beautiful our world is you see when you take a second to look. (it's even more amazing when you seek out locations and wait hours for the perfect light!!) Based in London, I have the luxury to travel Europe with relative ease as well as enjoy one of the most photographic, dynamic and colorful cities in the world... London.

I am now available for all types of photographic events such as weddings, engagements, religious ceremonies as well as location shoots in the London area. My shooting style is a mixture of traditional elegance, contemporary and reportage with a lot of fun mixed in. I love being behind the lens and my passion is to make images that you will not just be happy with but will be blown away by. To book a Lifesession contact me!

Viewing this site:

This site is optimally viewed at a resolution of 1024x768 pixels or greater. It will work in 800x600 but many of the photographs will require some scrolling as most of the photos are at least 800 pixels wide. While every effort was made to ensure uniform viewing, factors such as monitor type, age and gamma settings can create inconsistencies in color and tone. In order to minimize these variations I have included the simple calibration test you see below. To use it, please adjust your monitor's contrast and brightness controls so that each variation (designated with a letter) is distinct and separate.

The Images and Copyright:

The photographs on this site are all greatly reduced in size and optimized for use on the web. They are only representations of the real, full resolution images that are sold on this site. Please do not Hotlink or link to my photographs in any other way that will rob this site of its bandwidth. Lately there have been many Xanga and MySpace users using my free desktop wallpaper for their own sites. This is okay, except that every time their site get a hit it pulls the large (200-300kb) photo from my site, stealing my bandwidth and slowing down my servers. Unfortunately, this costs me money. If you want to use an image for a personal site please ask me and I'll usually be more than happy to assist. A link to Lifesessions.com is always welcomed too.

Equipment Used

The age old question... So I've decided to post it. Good equipment in the right hands equals great art. You would think the reciprocal would also be true but interestingly, bad equipment in the right hand can also make great art! This is just a bit of my core kit;

Nikon D300, D200 and D70 digital SLR cameras (my wife loves the D70)
Crumpler 7 Million
• Nikon Nikkor 12-24mm AF-S DX f/4
Nikon 17-55mm AF-S DX f/2.8
Sigma 50mm f/1.4 (a nifty fifty that Nikon was too slow to make)
Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8
• Nikon 18-70mm AF-S DX f3.5/7.5
• Nikkor 70-210mm f/5.6 (when I need to travel light)
• Tiffen and Hoya ND and Grads.
• Gitzo G1158 Carbon Tripod with Acratech Ultimate Ballhead (small, nimble and light... Perfect!
• Nikon SB 800 x2, SB 600x1, Studio Lighting
• Adobe Photoshop Creative Suit, Neat Image, Photomatix
• All in (well, some of it) a Crumpler "7 Million Dollar" bag. My Crumpler "15 Love" still gets some use too.
