PHOTO OF THE WEEK 2007

April 12, 2008 - Photography would be a lot easier if you could just blink and appear in a beautiful landscape with the only the sound of the wind to your ear and the warmth of a setting sun on your cheek. Naturally, a sturdy tripod would be fastened to the perfect spot already framed on just the right scene. That wind would dissipate just enough to enable you to capture a pin sharp image of the land and then increase in intensity to transform the sky into a medley of color. Would that take all the fun out of it? Humm… probably. This is because much of the mystique of photography is in not knowing what you'll find. Most days out are a flop, but sometimes you find that perfect spot at the perfect time and are lucky enough to have the right equipment too. That's photography bliss.

April 7, 2008 - I woke up this Sunday morning as I do and went to the coffee maker for my morning cup of extra strong Lavazza and was suddenly stunned as I gazed out the kitchen window. Snow in London is quite the novelty so I seized the moment and quickly grabbed my camera and my boy Leo and took off to Wapole park in Ealing to capture this rare London moment. It's a site you don't often see and it just may be the last 'real' snow fall London ever has. Leo loved it!

March 30, 2008 - Lots of new things going on. My two month old son, Leo is keeping me very busy rocking, changing, and playing. Needless to say, I've been a bit lax with taking cityscape photos and instead have found a new liking to portraiture using Leo as my model. And he's quite the little star too. In the little time free time I have, I managed to install a new shopping cart application to Lifesessions enabling customers to purchase prints with better support and faster turn around times. The galleries are slowly being merged with the shopping cart and the London gallery is finally fully merged. As always, please feel free to send me any comments or questions that you may have. February 24, 2008 - Time will never stand still and those moments that bring us such joy become memories in an instant. To capture such a moment and record it forever is truly monumental. This is why I love photography. Life is a journey but without memories and our past it means nothing. Since the birth of my son, my camera has changed from something that captures pretty light and shapes to something that captures emotion and spirit. My camera isn't really all that valuable but the things come out of it are truly priceless. - Joshua Atticks

February 1, 2008 - Today is the happiest day of my life. It was also the longest most stressful day that I have ever endured. I can only empathise what dear Gemma is feeling and am so proud of her for being so strong and kind. What a beautiful child he is. Introducing "Leo Benjamin" tipping the scales at 4kg (that 8lbs and 14oz in old English) and 56.5cm long. Mum and baby are well and will be spending a couple nights in hospital before returning home. Isn't he stunning!

January 22, 2008 - The Thames Flood Barrier revisited this time hitting it just right to be a perfect balance between city lights and ambient light from the sky. I consider this one of London main attractions just because it's so cool looking and serves and very important role for keeping London safe. The Thames Barrier was completed in 1984 and is the second largest movable flood barrier in the world. The center four gates are the largest and weigh 3500 tonnes each. In the last 5 years that gates have been put to good use as warm seas from globle warming has caused more storm surges. For more information check out this site.

January 13, 2008 - is going to be quite the busy year. The big news is that soon, I'll be a dad! I can't believe it myself. So the London cityscape will have to wait a little bit while I focus my concentration of portraiture. This should be fun. The photo of the week is of the Queens Walk across from Parliament. I waited in this spot for about 20 minutes hoping the constant traffic of people would subsided. It finally did and created a very moody and atmospheric shot of classical London. I love this shot! You could almost see Sherlock Holmes walking down the promenade with his pipe in hand. Next week you might see a little baby boy here!

January 1, 2008 - Firstly I would like to wish you all happiness, health and luck for 2008. Thank you all for reading and enjoying the photographs on this site. Lifesessions has made significant growth over 2007 receiveing on average 22000 hits per month. The best part is that each visiter is spending on average 1.40 minutes browsing the images which is in its self quite the compliment. So thank you everyone!

For the photo of the week: Took the DLR to King George V and found the foot path that goes under the Thames. It's quite the spooky walk decided that I wouldn't return this way later that evening for security sake. From the south bank I made my way along the Thames path and found this image. Unfortunately, I missed the sunset making my trek over. I would like to revisit the area again for some morning light.
